Sage Creek Academics Program

The Sage Creek Foundation works collaboratively with the Sage Creek High School community to create Programs for the Arts

Sage Creek High School is home of the BOBCATS where the mottos are Be You. Be Your B.E.S.T. and  B.E.S.T. C2.A.T.S.” It is one of two comprehensive public high schools in the Carlsbad Unified School  District and is located in Carlsbad, CA. Sage Creek distinguishes itself as an academically diverse and highly motivated student community with complementary Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curricular pathways to the traditional high school course offerings.

Sage Creek High School is accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC) and was founded in 2013 with an inaugural class of 308 freshman students. It has since grown to a community of over 1400 students, and has graduated six classes since June 2017.

Sage Creek has also received numerous State and national recognitions. In 2021, SCHS was named a    California Distinguished School, and in US News was recognized as #587 in US public high schools, #76 in public California high schools, and #5 in San Diego County public high schools for its exceptional faculty, academic and extracurricular programs for students.

The Curriculum

Within our trimester system, students can take a maximum of 5 courses per trimester. Students earn 5 credits per trimester course, up to 75 credits per year; thus, students typically earn additional credits    beyond the diploma requirement of 230 credits. Each trimester course is equivalent to five semester    credits per seat time guidelines. As a school with STEM foci, we offer interested students, rigorous   Project Lead the Way (PLTW) four-course sequences in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering.

Graduation course requirements are comparable to the University of California and California State      Universities’ admission requirements, A-G eligibility, and additionally include Physical Education. Beyond the course requirements for graduation, students must complete 20 hours of community service, have a cumulative GPA of 1.50 for all coursework, and earn a minimum of 230 credits. Additionally, all Seniors will prepare a Genius Project (capstone, passion project) of their interest and choosing.
